The international Schauenburg Group of Companies has more than 40 years experience in ventilation equipment and systems for the mining and tunneling industries. Since the mid 1980's, Schauenburg in South Africa has identified the growing influence electronic instrumentation could have on Health and Safety in mining and in particular the underground operations.
We endeavour to be the leader in supplying and providing excellent products and services in handheld and fixed gas monitoring equipment for safety applications as well as environmental monitoring and controlling equipment for health applications. Based upon the innovative ability to adapt, develop and supply safe and reliable equipment to monitor different gasses and vapours and the ability to alert persons in the vicinity of pending or arising dangers related to gas and dangerous conditions forms the basis for our development. Our successful implementation of products has given up the experience and confidence to offer real solutions at competitive prices. Using the profound know-how of designing and manufacturing electronic instruments and systems with high emphasis on gas detection we defined our goals and introduced a world-class electronic technology product range for Health and Safety for underground mining. Capitalising on the extensive experience gained in the design and manufacture of electronic equipment and systems for mining applications, know-how is being transferred to the international mining and tunneling industries as "Schauenburg Electronic Technologies". Today, the range of equipment has diversified to include intelligent instrumentation, gas detection, safety-enhanced cap lamps, computerized radio-relayed monitoring, safety systems, battery management and more. All design and developments of our products are engineered and efficiently manufactured at our South African company. Regular exchange and liaison with our customers as well as High Technology suppliers are the order of the day. According to the health and safety act and DME regulations, any maintenance and calibration carried out on gas instrumentation on a mine must be done by a person that is trained and certified by the OEM on a yearly basis.
